When should I arrive?: For most of our services we open the doors around 30 minutes before we start and the majority of people like to arrive about 15 minutes before the service. Sunday morning services at Stranton Church start at 9.00am with said Holy Communion (which alternates between the more traditional words of the Book of Common Prayer and the formal style of Common Worship), followed by Family Worship for all ages at 11.00am. At Burbank Community Church, Sunday morning worship starts at 11.00am. Where can I park?:
There is some parking at the front of Stranton Church with additional parking at the rear of the church - we have a share arrangement to use Cameron's Brewery car park. There is also ramp access from the rear car park for wheel chair users. What about children?: On Sunday mornings we offer a range of childrens activities during the 11.00am service at Stranton Church and the 11.00am service at Burbank Community Church. At Stranton, children who are of pre-school or primary age groups take part in the opening family worship (which can include a quiz and action song) and then go out for age appropriate teaching and craft activties. The beginning of these children's activities will be annonuced and you will be able to accompany them to and from, and the children (usually!) re-appear in time to share in the closing blessings. There are no children's activities at other morning services. All are invited to stay on for refreshments and a chat after every 11.00am Service. The Monthly Lighthouse and Messy Church (St Matthew's Community Hall) servcies are specifically tailored to be informal, family centred all age worship. How should I dress?: Most dress casually. It's a very informal family atmosphere, but feel free to put on your 'Sunday best' if you wish. What happens at a service?: Our services are intended for all ages. They each provide an opportunity to relax in God's presence and worship (a mix of prayer and singing accompanied by traditional and modern music) around readings from the bible and a talk lasting between 15 and 20 minutes. Every other week the 11.00am service includes Holy Communion, with bread and wine, or blessings offered to the congregation in remembrance of Jesus dying on the cross for us. Individual prayer is also available at the end of every service for healing or other support. If you would like to know more, go to Contact Us. How long will it last?: Most services last between 60 and 90 minutes, but feel free to come and go as you need to. |
